Our current political environment has people choosing candidates based on personalities, operational history, who the other candidate is, or even just the party they represent.
While this may be OK in politics, it would be a death wish in business.
Leading the Vision
In business, we need leadership that inspires both vision and faith in the purpose and team.
Everyone wants to be on the winning team and feel like a contributor to the effort. That camaraderie and confidence will inspire maximum commitment from everyone. To get there, that mission, attitude, and approach must be felt and demonstrated from the top down.
“The difference between success and a daydream is vision and effort!” ~ Unknown
Manage the Execution
But a vision without a solid plan is doomed to fail. The speed and flexibility in the market today to recognize and react have never been faster.
That means dedicated execution of the plan sharply increases our chances of success. That again comes from supportive leadership, managing the team on the purpose and results of their efforts to keep them aligned to the vision from the organization’s top to the bottom.
“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.” ~ William Hickson
So do yourself and those team members around you a favor and establish leadership with confidence and capability to execute against your organization’s vision. Be one who can move others to excellence and success.
It can’t be done by yourself – this is a team effort, after all. The best leaders are the ones who can surround themselves with others whose strengths complement their weaknesses.
Make yourself the instigator of the vision and surround yourself with a team that fills in the blanks.
Both “leadership” of the vision and “management” of its execution are critical, and our goal needs to be investing in building and achieving both – preferably without any politics 😉
