The 4th of July holiday weekend is just about here. This holiday makes me think about fireworks, barbecues, the neighborhood kid’s parade, and how quickly summer seems to fly by (the back-to-school sales are already starting – ugh!).
What I like best about this holiday is that the focus isn’t on gifts or other things – it’s really about getting together. Celebrating together.
We may have a lot of division in our country– and have had it throughout our history. Heck – the authors of the Declaration of Independence worked through plenty of differences in their efforts. But they came together in the end – and put together something pretty great, to say the least.
I hope you have the opportunity to be with people you enjoy, celebrating your favorite traditions this holiday weekend.
And, of course, sending special thanks to our many service members – past and present – whose sacrifices to protect what our founders defined make these celebrations possible. Without them, we wouldn’t have the fireworks, barbeques, kid’s parades, and so much more.
